First Year 13 Cohort Celebrates Excellent A Level Results at The Charter School East Dulwich

Staff and students at The Charter School East Dulwich are today celebrating a set of brilliant A level and BTEC results. We are exceptionally proud of all our students. As our first Year 13 cohort following the opening of our new Sixth Form in 2021, we have been continually impressed by their commitment, enthusiasm and perseverance over the past two years.

This excellent set of results is testament to their hard work, led by a team of dedicated staff.

  • 27% of all A level grades sat by students achieved A*/A, with 53% at a grade B or Higher
  • 73% of all A level grades sat by students at the school achieved A*-C
  • 50% of students achieved at least one A grade or higher
  • 58% of BTEC grades were Distinction or Distinction* with 91% of students achieving a Merit or above

The vast majority of students will progress to their first choice of university, college or apprenticeship with over 80% of students who applied having secured a place at their university of choice. Subject areas which excelled include Mathematics (52% A*/A), Drama (75% A*/A) and Art (46 % A*/A).

It was also a particularly strong performance this year in BTEC Level 3 subjects with 90% of Business BTEC students gaining a Merit grade or higher, including 65% attaining a Distinction or Distinction*. Digital Games BTEC and Sports BTEC also showcased strong results with 50% and 100% of students attaining a Merit or higher, respectively.

The Charter School East Dulwich is an inclusive, diverse, state-funded secondary school in South East London.  Established in 2016 the school has grown from an initial intake of 120 to now over 1300 students, with the Sixth Form provision opening in September 2021.

Today, Headteacher Alison Harbottle reflected:

“I am thrilled with the wonderful A-level results achieved by our inaugural sixth form students. Their dedication to their education over the past two years has shone brightly. These strong results reflect not only their academic excellence but also the close collaboration of the whole school community including staff and families. I would particularly like to praise the commitment of the Sixth Form Team as they have set up and grown provision for our students. As we celebrate this milestone, I wish all our Year 13s the very best in their next steps.”
