Autism Resource Base - Community Consultation

The Charter School East Dulwich invites you to take part in our consultation on the proposal for the opening of an Autism Resource Base.

We at the Charter School East Dulwich would like to get your thoughts on our proposal to open an Autism Resource Base called The Grove. This resource base will offer 25 places (five per year groups 7-11), to students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Students who attend the Autism Resource Base will receive a blend of learning opportunities in both the main school and the base. The curriculum will be customised to students’ specific needs as outlined in their EHCP and will aim to help them develop their learning skills and participate in as much mainstream classroom learning as possible.

There is a great need for more additionally resourced provisions and special schools in Southwark that can offer specialised and personalised approaches to learning for many children and young people. We are excited to work with Southwark Council to provide valuable opportunities and a school environment that can transform young lives.

The Autism Resource Base will be located in the newly refurbished and purpose built chateau building on East Dulwich Grove (the old East Dulwich Hospital Building). It will also be the site for the sixth-form study spaces, music department, and school administration. The resource base will have a range of learning spaces designed for small group work, class-based learning, and flexible multi-use spaces, all tailored to the needs of the students attending.

We would appreciate your thoughts on this proposal. Please use the link here in order to let us know anything you would like us to consider, and see the letter below for more information.
