Founding Teaching Faculty Appointed

The school is delighted to announce the appointment of Subject Leaders for each of the key areas of our curriculum. Over the past few weeks we have been fortunate to attract the interest of many energetic and experienced teachers keen to help develop an exceptional community school. From a strong field, the following professionals distinguished themselves; they will help form the founding teaching faculty of The Charter School East Dulwich (TCSED).

Ms. Hannah Smith joins TCSED as Head of Mathematics. Hannah joins our growing school from Dunraven School, an established Outstanding all-through school in Lambeth, where she was most recently second-in-charge of the maths department. Hannah has extensive experience in delivering maths across the age ranges, including having worked intensively on the transition from primary to secondary school. Hannah is also a local resident and parent.

Ms. Ranjali Sivanesan joins as Subject Leader for Science, responsible for developing our curricula in biology, chemistry and physics. Ranjali joins from St. Mark's Academy in Merton where she was most recently head of A level science. Ranjali has been at St. Mark's for eight years, holding a variety of responsibilities including Acting Head of Science and Year Leader.

Mr. Benedict Fogarty joins us as our Subject Leader for Humanities, responsible for developing our curricula in History, Geography and Religious Education. Ben joins us from Ark Evelyn Grace Academy in Lambeth, where he was responsible for History across Key Stage Three and taught Politics at A level. In addition to his subject expertise, Ben is a published playwright and former professional actor who will contribute widely to the extra curricular life of our school.

Ms. Sarah Daly joins us as our Subject Leader for Art and Design and will coordinate our overall extra curricular offer. Sarah joins from our sibling school in North Dulwich, where she has taught art for the past year. Sarah has extensive experience teaching in both the state and independent sector, including several years as a head of department and teaching in the Middle East. She is already working with local primary schools on an art outreach project that will help students to transition effectively to secondary school.

Ms. Adeline Pires joins us as Subject Leader for Modern Foreign Languages. Adeline was most recently at Harris Academy Upper Norwood, where she held several positions, including Head of Department and Key Stage 3 leader. She is a French national, although her teaching career has been almost entirely in the UK.

As previously announced, Ms. Rebecca Hardy will double in the role of Head of English in addition to her responsibilities as Deputy Headteacher.

In addition, several members of our teaching and learning support faculty at The Charter School North Dulwich will support the delivery of outstanding lessons in specific areas of our curriculum. Among these colleagues, Ms. Maria Chalcraft will serve as Subject Leader for Physical Education and Mr. Francis Wilson as Subject Leader for Music for both schools.

Our subject leads will be supported by specialist teachers in each key curriculum area. We will make a further announcement regarding these appointments shortly.
