The Charter School

East Dulwich

We aim to inspire our students to develop a lifelong love of music and to develop their abilities as musicians. Our music curriculum is aimed at increasing pupils’ self-confidence and creativity with a view to improving their overall sense of achievement and wellbeing.

All students will receive an hour of music a week during our Foundations stage (Key Stage 3). In addition, we have a team of peripatetic musicians who deliver 30-minute instrumental lessons either individually or in pairs.  Students can learn drums, keyboards, guitar, vocals, brass and woodwind instruments. More instrument choices are being added over time.

We offer a variety of musical extracurricular activities including choir, keyboard club, strings, song-writing club and steel pans. Other ensembles and orchestras are planned as well as collaborations with the orchestra at our sibling school.
